Mysugar confident to reach target of crushing 2.5 lakh tonnes of sugarcane

Mysuru: The state-owned Mysore Sugar Company, commonly known as Mysugar, is on track to meet its target of processing 2.5 lakh tonnes of sugarcane this year, according to Managing Director H.L. Nagaraju.

In a statement released on Monday, Nagaraju reported that the factory, located in Mandya, had crushed 74,605 tonnes of sugarcane as of September 15, 2024. This has resulted in the production of 38,318 quintals of sugar and 4,140 tonnes of molasses.

With an average of 3,000 tonnes of sugarcane being delivered to the factory daily, Nagaraju expressed optimism that Mysugar would achieve its annual goal of crushing 2.5 lakh tonnes.

The company has been making prompt payments to farmers, transporters, and labourers involved in the cane-cutting operations. So far, ₹9.14 crore has been paid to 531 farmers for supplying 35,775.51 metric tonnes of sugarcane. Additionally, labourers hired through 223 contractors have received ₹2.61 crores, and transporters have been paid ₹91.62 lakh for delivering the cane to the factory.

This year’s crushing operations started in July and are expected to continue until December.
