Mysugar factory begins sugarcane crushing operations

Mysuru: Mysugar factory, which has been non-operational for a long time, resumed crushing operations on Thursday.

K. Gopalaiah, minister-in-charge of the Mandya district, gave a start to the state-owned sugar factory. “To run the factory under profit, the support of everyone from all quarters is essential,” he said.

Gopalaiah said,”We will invite Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai who will formally launch the operations. Now we have started the mill but the interruptions may occur, but all of them would be sorted out to ensure its regular run.”

“The factory has set a target to crush 4,000 tonnes of sugarcane this season and would benefit the farmers from Mandya,” he further added.

The factory was set up in 1933 during the rule of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar. The operations at the factory were suspended owing to the losses and some technical problems. Several attempts were made to revive the it but finally, the government decided to run factory on its own.
