Mysuru: The Mysugar mill began sugarcane crushing operations for the 2023-24 season on Thursday, reports The Hindu. The inauguration was done by Sugar Minister Shivanand Patil. The mill is expected to crush 3 lakh tonnes of sugarcane during this Kharif season.
The mill has set a target to crush 3,000 tonnes per day and could increase it up to 5,000 tonnes per day later on, he said. Technical issues have resulted in the delay in starting cane crushing operations and to start with, about 1,500 tonne to 2,000 tonne of sugarcane will be crushed and the operations will pick up steam.
The government’s intervention has helped the factory become operational, said district in-charge minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy.
