Bhan Pratap Singh, the newly appointed Fiji Sugar Corporation Chief Executive Officer said that there is a need to improve all the sectors including factory and field operations, sugar recovery, and plant performance and improve the quality of cane supplied to the mills.
He said, “The recent cyclones and floods have damaged the infrastructure of some sugar mills and have impacted the sugarcane farms and crops and we have to do our best to manage this new challenge.”
The Fiji Sugar Industry will reach newer heights with the assistance of the sugarcane farmers and efforts of the government and stakeholders, he said.
Singh is likely to take the charge on March 22, 2021. Singh met the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister and Sugar Yogesh Karan.
Singh is experienced and has knowledge related to the mechanics of the sugar industry, said Karan.
