Nepal: Police seize illegal sugar worth Rs 780,000

Birendranagar, Nepal: A significant quantity of illegal sugar has been seized by police in Bangesimal, Birendranagar Municipality-1. The sugar was intercepted during a routine check on the Karnali Highway, reports My Republica.

During the inspection, police confiscated an LP truck (Karnali Pra002-001 Kha 0254) carrying the illegal sugar without receipts. Rupesh Khadka, Superintendent of Police (SP) of the District Police Office, Surkhet, stated that 156 sacks of sugar, each weighing 50 kg, were seized.

According to SP Khadka, the market value of the seized sugar is Rs 780,000. The police also took the driver, Rajkumar Tharu, into custody along with the truck. Both were handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office in Kohalpur for further necessary action, as reported by the Surkhet police.
