NFCSF and IFGE join hands to promote sugarcane-based bioenergy in India

New Delhi: In a move aimed at boosting sustainable energy efforts, the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE) to promote sugarcane-based bioenergy and environmentally friendly practices across the country.

The agreement was formalized on Thursday by NFCSF Managing Director Prakash Naiknavare and IFGE BioEnergy Committee Chairman Atul Mulay, who also serves as President (Bio Energy) at Praj Industries.

According to a statement from NFCSF, the partnership is designed to encourage innovation, support policy development, and promote the use of practical green energy solutions. It aims to bring together the expertise of both organizations to help accelerate the transition toward sustainable energy.

Under the MoU, NFCSF will contribute its extensive knowledge of sugarcane and its by-products for energy applications, share research and publications, and support joint promotional and policy advocacy initiatives.

Meanwhile, IFGE will take the lead in promoting sugarcane-based bioenergy both in India and internationally. It will also organize seminars, workshops, and other events in collaboration with NFCSF to spread awareness and facilitate discussions between policymakers, industry leaders, and other stakeholders.

The agreement also includes provisions for joint representation to government agencies and coordinated efforts to promote green energy. Specific projects under the partnership will be addressed individually, based on the needs and goals of each initiative.

This collaboration marks a significant step in aligning India’s sugar industry with its renewable energy goals, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future for the country.
