Nigeria: Dangote sugar plant to produce 4,50,000 metric tons of sugar

Nigeria: According to Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa state in Nigeria, “Dangote sugar’s plant in Tunga, in Nasarawa state may produce 450,000 metric tonnes of sugar, and expected to produce 90 MW power per year.”

The 45 MW power will be used to run the plant and remaining 45 MW power will be used in providing power to Lafia, Obi, Keana and Awe areas.

According to the reports, sugar plant is taking than longer time to be completed due to various challenges.

Recently, the Nigerian Sugar Development Council (NSDC) had projected the domestic sugar production to one million tonnes from 1.7 million metric tonnes by 2023 because of the inability of some sugar mills to increase crushing capacity.
