The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved an extension of BVR Subrahmanyam’s tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog for one year, extending his term beyond 24th February 2025. Subrahmanyam, a former Union Commerce Secretary, was appointed as the new CEO of NITI Aayog in February 2023, succeeding Parameswaran Iyer.
NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) is the leading public policy think tank of the Government of India. It acts as the central agency responsible for driving economic development, promoting cooperative federalism, and shifting away from bargaining federalism. The institution achieves this by involving India’s State Governments in the economic policymaking process through a bottom-up approach.
