Roorkee, Uttar Pradesh: Cane Commissioner inspected the Iqbalpur sugar mill and conducted a review meeting with workers of the sugarcane committee. He directed that no indents for the mill should be issued until outstanding payments to farmers are cleared and instructed measures to prevent under-weighing of sugarcane at weighing centres, reported Live Hindustan.
On Saturday, he the sugar mill to assess preparations for the crushing season. During his inspection, he reviewed various facilities, including the computer room and accounts office, and held a meeting with staff members. He announced that the crushing season at the mill would begin soon and emphasized that timely payments to farmers are essential.
The mill management assured him that previous dues would be cleared by November 27. Cane Commissioner made it clear that the mill would not receive any indent for operations until all pending payments were resolved.
Addressing farmers’ issues, the commissioner noted that many had suffered losses due to disease in the 0238 sugarcane variety. He instructed officials to prioritize resolving these problems.
