The Federal government of Nigeria stated on Wednesday that there is no scarcity of sugar in the country and there was no dip in the production of the commodity, reports local media.
The operators should refrain from spreading unnecessary propaganda that would affect the sugar industry in the country, warned the government.
BUA Foods Plc had published an advertorial alleging that the Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc has suspended sugar sales as the allocation of raw sugar in 2022 has been declined. Flour Mills had since debunked the claim.
Dangote Sugar also halted the sale of the sugar aiming to create scarcity and raise sugar prices, accused the BUA.
Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Secretary of the National Sugar Development Council, has warned the operators to refrain from spreading false information.
