There is no shortage of sugar in the country, said the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) stating that the sweetener is being produced at all three estates.
Taking steps to prevent profiteering by unscrupulous parties, the New Guyana Marketing Corporation is selling packaged sugar to consumers at $150 per pound and charging $140 per pound for loose sugar, said GuySuCo.
All three sugar estates have stock over two weeks’ supply of 50 kg packaged sugar and 2 kg bagged sugar.
