Notices issued to sugar mills

Bijnor: Sugarcane farmers claim they are suffering from a financial crisis as sugar mills have not cleared the cane dues. Following which, cane department came into an action mode and asked sugar mills to clear sugarcane dues within a stipulated time. But mills failed to execute it.

According to the news report published in Livehindustan.com, following the directions of the District Magistrate Ramakant Pandey, DCO Yashpal Singh has issued notices to five sugar mills for not paying pending cane arrears. He has warned them of action if they fail to clear the dues.

DM Pandey had recently conducted a meeting of the representatives of the sugar mills and took a review of the pending cane arrears. Notice has been sent to the sugar mill on the DM’s instruction for the delay in payment of the outstanding sugarcane price.

Government is closely monitoring the daily cane payments by sugar mills. The lockdown imposed by the government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic has also affected many sugar mills across India. Mills claim that due to lack of finance they are unable to clear cane arrears.
