NRL’s biorefinery to start ethanol production by July-August: Media report

Assam: NRL’s biorefinery, a first-of-its-kind bamboo-based facility in India, is on track to begin ethanol production by late July or early August according to Managing Director Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, reported PSU Watch.

Previous reports had suggested that the biorefinery would be operational by March 2024. When asked about any delays in its commissioning, the Managing Director of NRL responded, “No. It involves deploying complex technology in India for the first time. Commissioning has been ongoing since March. Two phases have been successfully completed. We are optimistic about producing ethanol by the end of July or August.” The commissioning process of the refinery is divided into eight phases, with two already completed.
