“Orientation Programme” for the newly admitted students at the National Sugar Institute was organized today. The programme commenced with lighting of lamp by Shri Alok Saxena, Executive Director, M/s Gobind Sugar Mills (a unit of Zuari Industries Ltd.) and Shri Narendra Mohan, Director, National Sugar Institute, followed by Saraswati Vandana.
Welcoming the students, Shri Ashok Garg, Education In-charge briefed the students about history and present activities of the institute. Since its inception in 1936, the institute has played a dominant role in growth and development of the sugar industry. Today, not only in the country but in many sugar producing countries, alumni of this institute are working on very senior positions and the alumni like today’s Chief Guest can be your role model, he said.
Shri Sanjay Chauhan and Dr. (Smt.) R. Ananthalakshmi, Hostel Warden, Boys & Girls Hostels respectively briefed the students about rules and regulations to be followed while staying in hostels. We have provided all necessary facilities, library, computers with internet connectivity and recreation rooms at hostels to facilitate students, said Dr. (Smt.) R. Ananthalakshmi.
You are now into one of the most prestigious sugar institute of the world and now it is your turn to prove yourselves. The legacy which has been created has to be taken forward and you have to be passionate and disciplined to acquire knowledge first rather than looking for salary packages only which you will get, advised Shri Narendra Mohan, Director.
Shri Alok Saxena, Executive Director, M/s Gobind Sugar Mills and an alumnus of the institute advised the institute to utilize the extraordinary “Hand’s on Training Facilities” available to acquire practical knowledge in addition to the theoretical knowledge acquired during class room teaching. Developing insight to process techniques shall be of great help while taking up careers in the sugar and allied industry, he said.
