National Sugar Institute, Kanpur has decided to organize “Teacher’s Day” this year on a larger scale. We are in the 75th year of independence and thus under the auspices of “Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” we have planned to celebrate “Teachers Day” by felicitating eminent ex-Directors and Professors of the institute who have contributed significantly in academics thus enabling institute to provide competent technical manpower to the sugar industry, said Prof. Narendra Mohan, Director, National Sugar Institute, Kanpur. Besides this women teachers who did their Ph.D work at the institute and later on took up teaching at other institutions or colleges shall also be felicitated.
On this day, a conference on “Indian Sugar Industry- yesterday, today and tomorrow” is also being organized. During the conference growth of Indian Sugar Industry with respect to capacity, sugar production, utilization of by-products and technical efficiency shall be highlighted. The conference shall be addressed by institute faculty and other eminent experts from sugar industry for their views on future road map for the sugar industry for self- sustainability, informed Prof. Swain, Prof. Sugar Engineering.
Shri Suresh Rana, Hon’ble Minister of Sugarcane Development & Sugar Industries and Smt. Nilima Katiyar, Hon’ble Minister, Higher Education, Science & Technology, U.P. Government have kindly consented to grace the occasion. They will also inaugurate a Model Room at the institute where models of equipment used by the sugar industry in 1930’s and those being used at present have been kept to showcase the technological advancement over the years. This will also provide a glimpse of India’s strength in manufacture of complete plant and machinery for sugar industry.
