Nayagarh, Odisha: Nayagarh Sugar Complex Limited (NSCL) in Odisha has been lying defunct from 2015. With a demand to revive the mill, farmers and mill workers under the banner of Nayagarh Sugar Mill Kriyanusthan staged a demonstration in Nayagarh. According to the media reports, it has disrupted normal life in several parts of the district.
The roads were deserted and the markets remained closed in the town. The bandh has also hampered bus and train services. The Nayagarh-Puri passenger train was halted by the agitators.
The farmers and workers have been staging agitation since January demanding reopening of NSCL. Apart from reviving the mill, the other demand of the agitators were payment of arrears of farmers and workers.
