Bijnor: The Deputy Commissioner of Sugarcane held a joint meeting with officials from the Sugarcane Development Council and the Sugarcane Department at the Sugar Mill Damhapur auditorium, reoorted Live Hindustan.
The Deputy Commissioner of Sugarcane stressed the need to plant newer varieties of sugarcane, such as CS-13235, CK-14201, CO-15023, 0118, and 98014, in place of the CO-0238 variety, which is susceptible to red rot disease. He said that the Sugarcane Development Council and the Sugarcane Department are working together to prevent and control the spread of red rot disease.
He also reviewed the progress made by officials in distributing safe seeds to farmers through departmental nurseries and other plots, and in meeting the targets for the use of farm machinery banks established at sugarcane committees. He directed officials to ensure that the displacement of the CO-0238 variety is carried out as per the work plan in the spring planting season.
