Lucknow: Criticizing the opposition parties that are agitating against the new farm laws and delay over cane payments, Uttar Pradesh’s Sugar Industry Minister Suresh Rana claimed that his government has performed well than the earlier governments in clearing the cane dues.
The minister stated that in the last four years the Yogi Adityanath government has cleared Rs 1.2 lakh crore cane dues as against the Rs 95,000 crore during the five-year term of Samajwadi Party government.
He said, “The BSP and SP governments sold 21 sugar mills at throwaway prices in their 10-year tenure. 19 mills shut down between 2007 and 2012 when the BSP was in power and 10 closed from 2012 to 2017 during the SP period.”
“Our government has set up new sugar mills at Pipraich in Gorakhpur, Munderwa in Basti and at Ramala in Baghpat,” he further added.
