Lucknow: Sugarcane minister Suresh Rana said that the state government has paid Rs 1.12 lakh crore to the sugarcane growers in the last three and a half years since the party came to power. This is the highest ever cane dues paid by the government to the cane farmers.
He said, “The amount was 17,314 crore more than the combined cane price payment made in five years of previous SP government. During lockdown the sugar sales were low but sugarcane farmers were paid Rs 5,854 crore.”
“The government is in the final phase of fixing the SAP and will announce the same soon. Despite lockdown, we managed to run 119 sugar mills efficiently and gave licenses to 243 Khandasari units,” Rana further added.
