Pakistan: With the arrival of new sugar in the market, prices of sugar have dropped by more than 20 Rs per kg. Sugar is now sold at Rs 85 per kg in the local market.
The prices of sugar were rising in some cities in the past few months but the timely commencement of crushing season has helped in lowering sugar prices following new sugar coming in the market.
Akmal Baloch, chairman, All Pakistan Traders Association said, “The average wholesale price of sugar has come down to Rs 80 per kg while it had earlier soared as high as Rs 110 per kg. The prices may lower further as the sugar starts coming in the market,” he further added.
