Islamabad: The government has asked the millers to start crushing operations in time stating that more sugar will be exported instead of asking them to sell their stocks in the domestic market, reported the Geo News on Sunday.
The issues related to the export of sugar have been settled between the government and mill owners, according to the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association sources.
Around 500,000 tonnes of sugar will be exported in the first phase without affecting the price in the domestic market. After the arrival of the fresh stock, the rates can be increased. The government is expecting to earn $ 1 billion through the export of sugar.
Millers are likely to meet the Prime Minister this week and discuss the issue.
