The sugar prices in the domestic market of Pakistan dropped as a result of efforts taken by the government. Within a week, the prices have declined by Rs 750 per 50-kg sack. The sack was sold at Rs 4,000 as against Rs 4,750 last week. The prices of sugar were down to Rs 80 per kg from Rs 95.
“The prices of sugar have been lowered from Rs 95 to Rs 80 per kg this week. The prices dipped by Rs 15 after the government announced timely sugarcane crushing,” said a spokesman of the wholesale dealers association in Jodia Bazaar, Karachi. The sugar prices in the retail markets were also reported below Rs 100 per kg and are being traded at Rs 92 per kg.
