Tariq Corporation Limited, a key player in sugar production and sales, has announced plans to install a 200-kilowatt solar power system to enhance sustainability and improve operational efficiency. The company shared this development in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday, reported The Profit.
“We are excited to share that Tariq Corporation Limited is moving forward with installing a 200 KW solar power system. This step underscores our commitment to sustainability and operational improvements,” the company stated in its notice to the PSX.
The firm highlighted that the solar installation would help significantly lower electricity expenses and reduce its environmental impact.
According to details on the PSX website, Tariq Corporation is primarily engaged in producing and selling sugar and its by-products.
Pakistan is witnessing an increasing shift toward alternative energy solutions, with solar power gaining traction in both residential and commercial sectors.
In a similar move last week, Big Bird Foods Limited announced plans to install a 3-megawatt solar power system. The initiative is expected to cut electricity costs, which currently stand at approximately PKR 600 million annually, while also reducing the company’s carbon footprint.
Last month, Olympia Mills Limited also disclosed its intention to set up an off-grid solar power system at its factory. The project, approved by the company’s Board of Directors, aims to decrease dependence on grid electricity and achieve substantial cost savings. The estimated cost of the initiative is around PKR 50 million.
