Islamabad: Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan have increased by 42% in the first five months of the current fiscal year with the help of sugar exports which have increased by 2,244%.
In November 2024 alone, exports to Afghanistan grew by 17% compared to the same period last year. Sugar exports accounted for the largest portion of Pakistan’s total exports to Afghanistan during this period.
Between July and November 2024, Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan reached $578.7 million, a substantial increase from $408.8 million in the same period the previous year.
The federal government’s decision to allow sugar exports has played a crucial role in this surge. The government has approved the export of 750,000 metric tons of sugar from June 2024 onwards.
