Palwal: The Palwal cooperative sugar mill is unable to complete cane crushing target set this season and is transferring 5 lakh quintals of sugarcane to two mills in Rohtak district. The mill had crushed 25 lakh quintals cane last season.
The mill had set a target of crushing 29 lakh quintals and according to reports, the mill won’t achieve this due to delay in starting crushing.
The mill has spent Rs 12 crore on up-gradation and started crushing at its full capacity from January 5 against the formal opening on December 12, 2019. The mill has lost 45 working days due to technical glitches. In 2018-19, the mill started operating on November 12.
Naresh Kumar, MD of the sugar mill said, “The cane sent by the farmers to mill was accumulated due to breakdown and hence we are transferring about 5 lakh quintal of cane to other sugar mills at Rohtak and Meham towns.”
