Mandya, Karnataka: The defunct Pandavapura Sugar mill, which was taken on lease by Nirani sugars, will start its operations from August 11. The formal inauguration of the mill is scheduled on August 11. Murugesh Nirani has invited several dignitaries for the inaugural ceremony. He on July 29 paid a visit to seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji of Suttur Mutt and invited him for the reopening of the mill.
The mill was a lifeline for thousands of farmers. It got shut down many years ago after mill ran into losses. The mill will be on lease for the period of 40 years. The farmers were facing trouble due to the closure of the mill, but once the mill resume operation, it is likely to benefit the cane growers.
