Haryana: Panipat sugar mill sets target of 66 lakh quintal sugarcane crushing

Panipat, Haryana: The new sugar mill in the village of Dahr in Panipat has set a target of crushing 66 lakh quintal of sugarcane in the 2023-24 season, reported Dainik Tribune.

The mill, which is owned by a private company, crushed 65.51 lakh quintal of sugarcane in the previous season. The company has increased the sugarcane area under cultivation in the district by 1,000 acres to 26,118 acres this year.

The mill is expected to start crushing sugarcane after Diwali. The mill has a daily crushing capacity of 50,000 tonnes, which can be increased to 75,000 tonnes if the sugarcane area under cultivation increases further.

The mill is also expected to generate 8.9 crore units of electricity this season, of which 2.94 crore units will be used to run the mill and the rest will be sold to the grid, said Jagdip Sinh, MD of the sugar mill.
