New Delhi: BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh clear the pending cane dues of the sugarcane farmers as early as possible.
He has written a letter to the Prime Minister mentioning that the farmers are facing a huge economic crisis as the mills have not cleared their cane dues.
He has also stated that UP is the largest producer of sugar in the country for the consecutive second year which was made possible by the sugarcane farmers.
Despite this, the government has not raised the sugarcane State Advisory Price (SAP) from the last three years but the rates of electricity, fertilizers, diesel, pesticides and wages continue to rise which has reduced the farmers earnings, noted Ali.
