Phagwara: Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner Karnail Singh has assured sugarcane farmers’ unions that the efforts are being taken to release the pending cane dues of farmers from the sugar mills, reports Tribune India.
He restated the commitment to promptly release their payments, citing the ongoing process of selling the mill’s attached properties. He announced an upcoming district-level committee meeting to determine the reserve price for these properties.
The Deputy Commissioner also provided assurance to sugarcane growers regarding seeking legal counsel and initiating necessary actions to address any discrepancies that might have occurred at the mill. Notable attendees included Jai Inder Singh, SDM of Phagwara, representatives from farmer unions like Satnam Singh, Davinder Singh, Kirpal Singh, and Baljit Singh, as well as Baljit Verma, General Manager (Cane), among others.
