Manila, Philippines: Sugar output in the Philippines has reached the set target for the season with 2.1 million metric tonnes sugar produced till the first week of June, said the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA).
The sugar crop year in the country is from September to August.
The figures released by the SRA show that the sugar output has increased by 0.53% from the 2.098 million MT production registered during the same period last year.
SRA in March had revised the sugar production target for the ongoing crop year from 2.19 million MT to 2.1 million MT. All the sugar produced in the country will be supplied in the domestic market as the SRA has terminated 7% export allocation to the US this year.
