The shortage of sugar supply has led Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. to temporarily suspend operations in four of its plants, local media reported.
Juan Lorenzo Tanada, director of Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, said, “We may suspend operations at some plants temporarily on a day-to-day basis.”
During the Senate blue ribbon committee hearing on the “sugar fiasco,” he said, the operations at four plants including plants in Davos; Imus, Cavite; Zamboanga; and Naga City, Camarines Sur have been suspended.
“The salaries of the employees associated with these plants will be paid regularly though they are not required to come to work,” he further added.
