Philippines: Department of Labor and Employment set to release P185 million to sugar mill workers

Sugar workers will get P185 million as the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Western Visayas is set to release the amount. It will be given as per, Republic Act No. 809.

According to the media report, Cyril Ticao, Regional Director, Dole-Western Visayas stated that the amount will be given before August 21 to the five planters.

Responding to the demand of the planters association to help the workers that are financially under distress due to Covid-19, Ticao has asked to release the funds immediately.

The planters that would get the bonus are identified as Independent Planes of Bisom (Ipobi), Planters Association of Southern Negros Inc. (Pason), Binalbagan-Isabela Planters’ Association (Bipa), United Farmers Association of Negros South Inc. (Unifarms) and Negros Consolidated Farmers Association (NEG-Cofa).
