Even though the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) has decided to halt shipment of local sugar output to the United States, Senator Juan Miguel Zubir has asked the agency to ensure that there is enough sugar in the country.
He has issued a statement asking the SRA to ensure that there is enough sugar supply in the country till the next crop year.
Sugar crop year starts in September and ends in August in the Philippines. He also thanked SRA from terminating the ‘A’ sugar allocation as the country may not achieve the targeted sugar production this year. ‘A’ Sugar is the sugar classified for domestic use other than the sugar exported to US.
