Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh: Sugar mills from Pilibhit are all set to commence cane crushing season, but pending cane dues have not been paid yet.
According to the news report published in The Times of India, three out of four sugar mills from Pilibhit owe arrears around Rs 136 crore to the cane farmers.
V M Singh, national convener of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee launches attack on the government over pending cane dues. He said, “Mills need to ensure payments within 14 days from the date of sugarcane’s procurement.”
District cane officer, Jitendra Kumar Mishra said, “Efforts are being taken to ensure that the sugar mills clear the pending cane arrears on priority basis.”
