Plans to set up textile cluster on closed Barlai sugar mill premises: Media report

Indore: The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has proposed converting the closed Barlai sugar mill and the surrounding area into an industrial zone for the textile sector, reports The Times of India.

“We have submitted a proposal to develop a textile cluster at the Barlai sugar mill and aim to begin work within this financial year. The initial plan includes a plug-and-play facility for industries seeking ready-to-move-in spaces, as well as plots for industrial and residential use. The goal is to create a comprehensive ecosystem for industries,” said MPIDC executive director Sapna Jain.

According to the corporation, they have received significant interest from various industries regarding land at Barlai. “Several industries have expressed interest in acquiring land at Barlai. Given its proximity to Indore and the availability of resources, we anticipate high occupancy in this industrial belt,” Jain added.

The industries department is upgrading many existing industrial belts and establishing new industrial areas in the region to attract further investment from industries.
