Gandhinagar: Gujarat government will soon announce an ethanol production policy, 2021 that would benefit both farmers as well as ethanol manufacturers in the state.
According to the news report published in The Times of India, the government is likely to announce the policy before the upcoming edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global summit and would include a number of incentives to attract investors.
The policy aims to utilize, develop, and promote domestic feedstock of agri by-products with emphasis on maize for production of bio-ethanol, thereby increasingly substituting fossil fuels.
The government has set a target to increase ethanol blending percentage to 20 per cent in petrol by 2025.
Recently, to uplift the ethanol output in the country, the government raised ethanol prices. The price of ethanol from the C heavy molasses route has been increased from Rs 45.69 per litre to Rs 46.66 per litre. The price of ethanol from the B heavy molasses route has been increased from Rs 57.61 per litre to Rs 59.08 per litre. Further, the price of ethanol from sugarcane juice, sugar/sugar syrup route has been increased from Rs 62.65 per litre to Rs 63.45 per litre.
