Popularity of flex-fuel cars increasing in Brazil

The popularity of flex-fuel cars has helped Brazil to move forward on the road towards sustainability, reports Agusmedia.

The flex-fuel engine is at the centre of debate as some automakers defending the transition model based on the ethanol hybrid as a solution towards greener fuel while some support electrification as a solution.

If Brazil fails to move into the electric vehicle market, it will be a late starter in this sector, claim some experts.

According to the media report, many claims that If Brazil fails to move into the electric vehicle market, then it may be as a “late mover” and risks losing strategic advantage if it does not get into gear soon.

“Electric vehicles are more expensive and there is no sense in comparing it to a car run on 100% ethanol,” said Carlos Tavares, chief executive of Stellantis.

“Brazil should work on 100% ethanol vehicles as these vehicles present significant cost savings compared to the electric vehicles,” he said.
