Puwayan: In the district, the cooperative sugar mill of Powayan is leading in the timely payment of sugarcane dues to farmers. The mill has disbursed payment into the accounts of farmers for the sugarcane procured until January 7th, reported Amar Ujala.
The state government has issued directives for the payment of farmers within 14 days of sugarcane supply. As per news report, in compliance, the Powayan Cooperative sugar mill is making timely payments. From the commencement of the crushing season until January 15th, the mill has purchased sugarcane worth a total of Rs 61.58 lakh. Out of this, the payment of Rs 52.38 lakh for the sugarcane procured until January 7th has been credited to the accounts of farmers. A remaining payment of Rs 9.20 lakh for the sugarcane procured until January 15th is pending.
So far, a total of 9,288 farmers have supplied sugarcane to the mill, and payments have been made to 9,248 farmers, with only 40 farmers awaiting payment.
