Lucknow: Criticising Yogi Adityanath government over pending sugarcane dues, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the government’s promise of paying farmers their dues within 14 days was merely a ‘jumla’.
Reacting on a micro blogging social networking site Twitter, Priyanka said that the Yogi government had promised farmers to clear their cane bills within 14 days of crushing their cane but the sugar mills have not paid thousands of crores of rupees to the farmers. This has proved that the government’s promise was another ‘jumla’.
Citing an example of Alok Mishra, a farmer from Lakhimpur Kheri who have not received 6 lakh Rs from sugar, she said, he was forced to borrow a loan of Rs 3 lakh for his medical treatment. The plight of other farmers is also the same.
