Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, stated that agriculture and the welfare of farmers are top priorities for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that serving farmers is akin to worshiping God. Chouhan noted that recently, Madhya Pradesh farmers were concerned as soybean was being sold below the minimum support price (MSP). Previously, states like Maharashtra and Karnataka had been permitted to purchase soybean at MSP.
Yesterday at 9 am, Union Minister Shri Chouhan issued a directive to buy soybean at MSP. Subsequently, the Madhya Pradesh government’s Mohan Cabinet proposed purchasing soybean at MSP, and by evening, the central government received the state government’s request.
Chouhan confirmed that upon receiving the Madhya Pradesh government’s proposal last night, it was approved the following morning. He assured that Madhya Pradesh farmers need not worry, as soybean will be purchased at MSP rates, ensuring that farmers are paid the full price for their efforts.
