Proposal to announce SAP for sugarcane to be discussed with CM: Sugar Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa

We will soon discuss the proposal to announce the State Advisory Price (SAP) for sugarcane with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, said Minister of Sugar Shankar Patil Munenakoppa, reports The Hindu.

He was responding to the questions raised by Congress members Prakash K. Rathod and P.R. Ramesh during the Question Hour in the Legislative Council on Tuesday. Karnataka does not have an SAP like other states, said the minister.

Sugarcane farmers in the state have been protesting demanding the announcement of SAP for cane at the earliest.

The centre has fixed Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane at Rs 3,050 per tonne for recovery of 10.25% but many sugar mills are paying Rs 150 to Rs 200 more than the FRP, he said.
