Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh: Students wing of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD)on Tuesday protested over the delay in sugarcane payment. The protest was held at district cane office in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh and also submitted their memorandum to the concerned officer.
The RLD student wing of the district said, “The sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh are awaiting for cane arrears. In Shamli alone, sugar mills owe farmers Rs 700 crore. We have written a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and urged him to act on the issue on a priority basis.”
According to the media report, the administration has sent notices to sugar mills over pending cane arrears.
