Puducherry government comes up with new scheme for sugarcane farmers

Puducherry: Puducherry government has come up with a subsidy scheme for the welfare of the sugarcane farmers. The scheme has been unveiled amid farmers are agitating against the three farm laws passed by the central government.

The scheme “Nammazhvar Agriculture rejuvenation” was launched by Agriculture Minister R Kamalakannan on Tuesday will provide a backend subsidy of Rs 10,000 per acre to the sugarcane farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). As many as 839 sugarcane farmers will be benefited under the scheme.

According to the news report published in newindianexpress.com, the scheme will replace the provisions of saplings, fertilizers (gypsum, zinc sulphate and others) and saplings by the government. The government will be spending around Rs 1.68 crore covering 1677.15 acre area under the scheme.
