Pune: Sugar mills in the Pune division have produced 249.43 lakh quintal of sugar till April 22, according to the state sugar commissionerate. The sugarcane crushing season is in its final phase and total 156 mills have closed operations so far in the state.
From the Pune division, 31 mills had participated in the cane crushing operations and out of these 25 have stopped operations. These mills have produced 249.43 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 228.04 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of around 11 per cent.
Total 190 sugar mills from Maharashtra had participated in the cane crushing operations this season and mills have produced 1050.91 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 1002.81 lakh tonne cane till April 22 with a recovery rate of 10.48%.
