Pune Railway Division registers substantial growth in sugar traffic

Under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Verma and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirwe, IRTS, the Pune Railway Division has successfully exceeded its Goods Traffic revenue target for the financial year 2024-25.

A target of Rs.506.80 crore was set for FY 2024-25, and the division has surpassed it by an impressive 3.4%, reaching a total revenue of Rs.524.14 crore so far, well ahead of the financial year’s conclusion.

The Pune Division has seen significant growth in sugar traffic, leading to a substantial revenue increase:

Last Year (2023-24): 335 rakes dispatched, generating Rs.231.56 crore in revenue.

Current Year (2024-25): 442 rakes loaded, generating Rs.306.41 crore in revenue.

Growth: A 32% increase in sugar traffic.

The Pune Division has successfully introduced molasses as a new traffic stream. Molasses is now being loaded from Miraj, Shrigonda, Belapur, and Karad to various destinations in Southern India (Manamadurai Jn, Chipurupalle, Tiruchchirappalli, Nellaikuppam).
