Punjab: Ajnala sugar mill starts crushing operations

Amritsar: The sugar mill in Ajnala has commenced operations following the arrival of fresh produce from local farms. Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal inaugurated the 34th cane crushing season at the Bhalla Village Sugar Mill in Ajnala on Wednesday, with the mill’s management and staff participating in the ‘Akhand Path’ organized for the occasion, reported Tribune India.

Expressing satisfaction, Dhaliwal highlighted the contentment among farmers due to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s recent decision to raise the price of sugarcane. Dhaliwal informed that experts from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, are actively developing new varieties of sugarcane seeds, which will soon be made available to farmers.

The event witnessed the presence of SDM Ravinder Pal Singh, the mill’s General Manager Rajinder Pratap Singh, and a substantial number of farmers.
