Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the upgraded sugar mill in Batala on Friday.
Highlighting this as a key step in this direction, he said the project, built at a cost of ₹296 crore, can crush 3,500 tonnes of sugarcane daily. The mill also includes a cogeneration plant capable of producing 14 megawatts of electricity.
“This mill will produce refined sugar,” Mann announced. He added that the mill aims to crush 35 lakh quintals of sugarcane this season, describing it as an eco-friendly facility.
