Rampur: Notice issued to sugar mill over pending sugarcane dues

Rampur: The Sugar mill in Karimganj is under scrutiny for failing to make timely payments to sugarcane farmers. The Deputy Sugarcane Commissioner and the District Sugarcane Officer have issued a warning notice to the mill for not clearing dues to the cane farmers, reported Live Hindustan.

During the upcoming sugarcane crushing season, the area under cane cultivation for the sugar mill will be reduced if dues are not cleared on time

The government intends to ensure that farmers receive timely payments for their sugarcane. Orders have been issued periodically to enforce this.

There are three sugar mills in the district. Triveni sugar mill and Bilaspur sugar mill have completed all their payments, but Rana sugar mill has not cleared full payment yet. Despite repeated notices, Rs 34 crore remains unpaid to farmers. Another notice has been issued to the mill, warning that if payments are not made promptly, the sugarcane cultivation area will be reduced.

Shailesh Kumar, the District Sugarcane Officer, stated that if payments are not made soon, the mill’s cultivation area will be decreased during the crushing season.
