Rampur: Sugarcane farmers launched sit-in agitation at Koyla toll plaza on Nainital road to demand pending cane dues. The farmers withdrew their agitation after officials assured them of cane payment.
Angry farmers under the leadership of BKU Mandal vice president Mohammad Talib staged a demonstration at the plaza. They later launched sit-in agitation on the road demanding the clearing of the pending cane dues from the mills in the district.
The police and the officials rushed to the spot after the farmers blocked the road and assured them that they would convey their grievances to the concerned authorities. After three hours of sit-in agitation and getting assurance from officials to clear their dues, farmers withdrew their agitation.
