Bijnor (Dhampur), Uttar Pradesh: Despite the earnest efforts of farmers, the red-rot disease is spreading rapidly in the sugarcane crop, reported Amar Ujala.
As of the inspection on June 10, about 1500 plots out of 1,000 inspected have been affected by the disease. Efforts are being made to save the affected fields with the cooperation of farmers, which will benefit both the mill and the farmers.
The GM (Sugarcane) of the sugar mill, Omveer Singh, said that this time too, red rot disease is spreading in the sugarcane crop in the Dhampur sugar mill area. However, full efforts are being made to prevent it. There are sugarcane crops in about two lakh plots in the mill area.
Inspections of plots are being done from June 10. So far, fifteen hundred plots have been affected in the inspection of about 30 thousand plots. By July 15, the aim is to inspect each plot. Efforts are being made to save the affected fields with the cooperation of farmers so that the mill and farmers can benefit.
The GM said that 100 employees of the mill have been assigned to help farmers. Mill workers are inspecting sugarcane crops villages.
